No. Searching and sending requests are free for buyers.

Many of these farms are someone's home. Listings show the town and a rough spot on the map. When the farm accepts your request, your request's status page shows the pickup address and the day.

Open a farm's page. If it has eggs today, choose how many dozen you want and send the request. The farm gets an email, and so do you. You hear back by email when it accepts or declines.

To send a request, yes: a free account with your name, email and a password. Searching and looking at farms needs none. Pick your eggs first and then sign in or create the account; what you picked is still there when you come back. We confirm your email once before your first request reaches a farm, so a farm only hears from real people. Every request you send, and where it stands, is under My requests.

Some do, and their listing says so, with how far they go. Tick "Delivers to me" on the search to see only those. Delivery is between you and the farm. We don't arrange or guarantee it.

Each farm tells us which of two statuses fits it under its state's law. Both are legitimate ways to sell eggs and both get the same kind of badge.

In Florida, "Exempt seller": Sells under Florida's 30-dozen/week direct-to-consumer exemption. "Permitted farm": Holds a Limited Poultry & Egg Farm permit. Florida's rules

In Texas, "Exempt seller": Sells its own flock's eggs, ungraded, straight to buyers under Texas law. "Licensed farm": Holds a Texas Department of Agriculture egg license. Texas's rules

"Permit on file" means the farm has uploaded its permit or license. We don't inspect farms; see the disclaimer and the egg laws, in plain words.

In Florida: A farm selling fewer than 30 dozen a week direct to consumers is not an egg dealer and needs no dealer permit. The state's Limited Poultry & Egg Farm permit ($110/yr, up to 3,000 hens, in-state only, at a roadside stand, a farmers market or by delivery, no mail order or wholesale) covers small farms under that line. Selling 30 dozen or more a week takes a full dealer permit. Florida's rules, with sources For Florida, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has the final word.

In Texas: A farm selling its own flock's eggs, ungraded, straight to the people who eat them needs no license from the Texas Department of Agriculture, however many it sells. A farmers market stall also needs a health permit, and grading, reselling or selling to stores and restaurants takes a TDA egg license. Texas's rules, with sources For Texas, the Texas Department of Agriculture for egg licenses, and the Department of State Health Services or your local health department for health permits has the final word.

You pick your status on your farm's page, and both show with the same kind of badge.

No. Your listing shows your town and a rough map pin. The exact pickup address goes only to a buyer whose request you accept, and only until that pickup day is over.

One tap on a normal day. "Same as yesterday" puts yesterday's list back up for today. When a type runs out, mark it sold out.

Your listing leaves the directory at the end of the period you paid for. You can still log in, see your records and export your ledger as a CSV.
